Even better would be to define your full query before requesting results.

That's exactly the plan. All odds by default takes far too long

Excellent, looking forward to that. Got a rough timescale for implementation?

Any chance of getting the remember me functionality working?
Also the javascript popup to tell you you've logged in successfully is redundant - if you login ok you can see you've logged in OK because your details are in the LHS panel. Maybe just have the popup if your login failed instead?
I was going to post about not loading all data by default as well, great news that's your plan anyway
I would offer to help but I don't know if you trust me

Does it not work for you? It works fine for me. Are you using IE or Firefox (or other)?

The site was built using Joomla. My PHP skills are basic so i'd have to look into how to do this.

It should do. I've just checked and there is nothing coming through from there. I'll have to look into this.
Also, apologies to anyone who has tried to use the site today. Looks like the scraper went down so there has been no updates. All sorted now though!

Cookies are working fine now smk, thanks.
So does joomla do all the screen scraping for you or is that done by some backend application you've written?

The scraping is done by an application I developed. The server that hosts the application then uploads to my external web host. The odds are displayed in Joomla through a module I wrote.

I'm puzzled. I use Topbetter at home and at work.
At work: IE 8 - Performance exceptional, loads like lightning.
At home: IE 8 - Performance dreadful, unusable, locks up browser for up to 15 minutes.
At home: Firefox 3 - Performance very good, almost as fast as at work.
Anyone got any clues as to what might be going on here?

Not sure what's going on there however, I could do with having someone with a few different setups to test the new layout so if you are interested I'll let you know when I am ready for assistance. It'll only take about 10 mins of your time.

No problem. Have access to a PC and laptop at home plus other systems at work including 64-bit systems and can install any required browser.

Dutchy, had a quick look at the interwetten issue and can't work out what the problem is. I'll have to have a re-think!
barazimba, I've added 6 months to your account.

smk is ther any chance you can do something about the stale 1x2 prices??? They seem to last for at least 24hrs after they've been discovered, yet they're stale within 3 minutes of being discovered. They tend to flood out the real arbs.

hey smk,
A 6 month free subscription seems very generous. Would love to try your service and my email should be lingering in your inbox. The odds you find phenomenal, sure you designed a winning app.

Thanks. However, it's Andy you must thank for providing Top Better to the users of his site.
I'll add the access for you now.

ok guys, i've updated the layout of Top Better odds.
On loading the site no odds are displayed. This improves the time it takes for the site to load up.
There are a massive 60 bookies on Top Better now.
To search for the odds select a bookie from the drop down list and click the OK button.
Any problems then let me know!

Kudos smk, a lot quicker to load now.
However is there any way to view all bookies at once like in the old layout? I thought I'd find an item for 'All' in the 'Search Bookmaker' dropdown, but can't see one... the option to view all the best arbs would be good for arb hunters.
But not that fussed either tbh. What bugs me more is the staleness of the match odds, did you manage to sort that out? As you know match odds tend to go stale within a minute or less, whereas the match odds results in topbetter where still there over 24hrs later!
Cheers.

I realised that I'd effectively removed the ability to do that last night after I'd logged off for the night! I'm going to see what I can do tonight!

Not sure. It must be keeping some old odds. So, basically, lets say you've got a 2.5/2.3 in the database this market is assigned an unique id...lets say 123456. When the scraper comes to that market during the next cycle the odds are 2.2/2.3. The scraper sees that there is already a 123456 so ignores the change. It's over a year since I wrote that bit of code so need to check it and find out what it is doing!
